August 2012

I haven't been riding my bike lately so I haven't updated my page.
I having some problems with my neck, Degenerative Arthritis, and biking seems to stir things up so I'm taking some time off.

I went to Shreveport yesterday for an MRI hopefully will get results next week.
I know several folks who have gone under the knife for neck problems and for the most part they seem to have had good luck.
I'm not anxious to go under the knife but when you start having headaches all the time, you do what you have to do.

I'll let you know the verdict as soon as I find out.

If you've been around cycling for the last 30 yrs you should understand that Lance Dopped, but so did everyone else, doesn't make it right but that was the playing field.
Guess they'll go after Eddy Merckx next, yep, he dopped too.

In the reading department I'm currently reading "A Perfect Spy" by John LeCarre, I'm about halfway thru and I'm finally starting to figure out what's going on.

Can someone explain to me how money in a Swiss Bank Account helps the US economy?

It's that time of the year where I start getting tired of the hot and nasty, I'm ready for some better weather.
Last night it thundered and lightened and the wind blew, we even lost electricity from 8pm until 2:30 am, not good in August, definitely not sleeping conditions, and still no rain.

Today we are cloudy and there is some rain around, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

In the Reading Department:

From:
"Peony" by Pearl S. Buck

He opened his eyes. "Why should I hate anyone?" he asked in surprise. He paused and then proceeded amiably. "To hate another human being is to take a worm into one's own vitals. It comsumes life."

"Our God is a jealous God," Ezra replied. "Gods are what men make them," Wang Ma retorted. "It is the Jews who have made their own God."

"To repay evil with kindness is the proof of a good man; a superior man blames himself, a common man blames others.

Worship is to honor Heaven, and righteousness is to follow the ancestors. But the human mind has always existed before worship and righteousness.

Kung Chen pursed his full smooth lips. "For the poor, happiness is difficult," he replied. "For the one, too, who fastens his happiness wholly upon another being. Poverty is the external hazard and love the internal. But if one can surmount poverty and can love in moderation, there is no obstacle to happiness for anyone."
"When you say being," Ezra said, "do you mean human or God?"
"Any being," Kung Chen replied. "Some love a human being too well and are made subject to that love; others love their gods too well and are subject to that love. Man should be subject to none. Then we are free."

Really enjoyed my ride this morning.
I took my Lottery Ride plus 10, glad I added the 10 cause that's where I ran into my old cycling buddy Jerry Harp.
I stopped by Jerry's house and we had a nice visit, I also got some good info.
Jerry was telling me how he joined a health club in Atlanta, I asked him how much it cost a month, as it turns out he pays nothing, it's taken care of by his "Humana" medicare supplement plan.
Well guess what, I have the same plan, so I think I'll go Monday and check this out, it's a pretty nice fitness center with all the machines and a swimming pool.

On my ride today I was riding for "Big Jonny," at "Drunkcyclist.com," big Jonny is one of those crazy Arizona Mtn bikers but a darn good guy.

Just another day in Paradise.
Got out for a ride this moring and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I got out early enough to where the heat wasn't a big factor and the humidity was bearable.
The weather man says it's going to be a couple of degrees cooler today, will we notice it, I doubt it.
When I finish this update I'm going to clean my bike, there, I've said it so I've got to do it, when I win the lottery I'm going to hire someone to clean my bike.

No ride today.
Today started out kind of rough, first thing, someone posted a pic of "The Evil One" on facebook, I've really had enough of that, second I looked in the back yard and saw a large limb that had fallen from a tree that died last year.

So I end up doing a little cross training with the chain saw, now I remember why I only do this kind of work in the winter, I was soakin wet.
Oh, if you need firewood, come and get it.

Hope to get in a bike ride in the morning, go to do one I haven't done in a while.

Got out this morning for a nice ride, rode to Linden and got me a Lottery ticket, if I win I'll come visit you, I'm sure you'll want me to.
It was a nice ride except for that little bee who somehow got in my jersey and stung me right in the middle of the chest, it did give me something to think about.
