Woke to 53 deg F this morning, that's more like it, on my ride I didn't start sweating until the third hill.
It was a nice ride on the bikeroads

let the fun begin, a nice downhill

I like goats, they don't give chase

From Bubba:

Nurses aren't supposed to laugh...

'Of course I won't laugh, said the nurse. I'm a professional. In over twenty years I've never laughed at a patient.'

'Okay then, said Bruce, and he proceeded to drop his trousers, revealing the tiniest 'man thingy' the nurse had ever seen. Length and width, it couldn't have been bigger than a AAA battery. Unable to control herself, the nurse started giggling, then fell to the floor laughing.

Ten minutes later she was able to struggle to her feet and regain her composure.

'I am so sorry,' she said. 'I don't know what came over me. On my honor as a nurse and a lady, I promise it won't happen again. Now, tell me, what seems to be the problem?'

....'It's swollen,' Bruce replied.

She ran out of the room.

Had a good ride this morning, eighteen miles on the backroads.
We've got a north wind and it's bringing cooler weather and lower humidities so next weekend should be great for riding.
This coming weekend is my CtoC ride and I'm looking forward to it, Teresa and I rode the course in the car and I'm happy to report that the bridges are all intact and the road is passable.

On todays ride I got a pic of a little friend of mine, he chases me every time I pass his house, luckily his legs are only about 4 inches long, so I can outrun him.

On October 10th is the "Tour de Fire Ant" in Marshall, Texas, click image below for info.

Headed to Waco, TX today for the "Wild West Waco" ride. The ride is Saturday morning and the conditions should be great.
I'll be staying with a friend I went to school with and am looking forward to a fun weekend, pictures to follow.

My ride this morning was kind of nasty, I knew it would be, since it's been raining all week.
I had to stop about every half mile to wipe my glassed off, the light mist or heavy fog was nasty.
I enjoyed the ride tho, went thru Linden and then returned to Casa by way of Tobacco road.
Saw another turtle on Tobacco road but not anything like the old boy I saw the other day.
It looks like we're finally going to get some Sun today for the first time all week, we like the sun in Texas, although at times we get a bit to much.

In football, Texas beat Texas Tech last night, that's the way I was hoping it would turn out, a real nice Texas rivalry.
Also, North Texas (my old school) got clobbered by Alabama, what were they thinking pitting these two against each other, North Texas is a music school, but I guess if you've got a college in Texas you've got to have Football, since football is right up there with God.
A couple of photos I took today.

My ride today was a wet one, I'm starting to get used to it, it's like a rainforest around here.
I rode twenty two miles today, the first twenty were damp, the last two miles was a soaker.
Pictures below show a rainy day in Linden and a friend I met on my ride, guess the large amount of rain is running them out of the bottoms.

A rainy day in Linden

On Tabacco Road I run upon this Monster turtle

This boy was huge, prehistoric

I tried to move behind him so I could get hold of him and
get him out of the road, no way he was quick as lightning
Vicious when bothered, easy boy!

How's the weather here? well take a look
we're the Red X in the middle, that's what I call being in the eye of the storm, been raining a few days, hope it clears by the weekend.

Todays ride reminded me of a show I used to watch when I was a kid, "Sea Hunt", with Loyd Bridges, yep it was raining.
I don't mind riding in the rain so much, ever since Byers, TX, but, with glasses it does get difficult to see at times, click on thumbnail below.

Look real close and you can see the road, it was a good ride, I knew I was going to be wet one way or the other, rain or sweat, so rain isn't to bad.

My next ride will be the
Waco Wild West Rideon September 26th and don't forget my
"Courthouse to Courthouse ride" on October the 3rd.

From Sundance:

·Husband Down

·A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife.

'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans,' he replies.

'Put them back, we can't afford them,' demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping.

A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband.

'Its my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife.

Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price.'

On the PA system: 'Cleanup on aisle 25, we have a husband down.'

I've heard a lot about "Tyler State Park" outside Tyler, Texas, so Teresa and I went down there to check it out, I took my Mountain bike.
We were really impressed with the park, had about everything a person could want.
I don't claim to be a Mountain biker but I rode a short trail and really enjoyed it, "no, I didn't crash into that tree, I was merely leaning against while I was taking a break.
Their are four trails and they all loop back together so you can ride all of them and end up where you started or cut back when your ready.
I was told by the lady at the office that the trails get progressively more difficult, I just did "Trail A" twice.
I enjoyed it and am looking forward to a longer day and more trails, today was really a scouting expedition.
The pictures below are all at Tyler State Park except the last one, which I took of "The Lake of the Pines" from Hwy 155, see those folks in the Kayaks, nice day for it.

As I've said before "All rides are good, some just better than others", well today's ride was probably my worst ride of the year, but it was good.
I found that it's more difficult to climb hills and out sprint dogs when you have an injury and can't grip your handlebar.
With eleven stitches in my right thumb I had to hold on with my fingers, eleven miles was pretty much all I needed.
Not only was the ride a sufferfest because of my injury, the humidity was horrible, a real boiler, look at the bright side, the next ride has to be better.

Everyone have a good weekend, hope you've got some nice riding weather.

I didn't ride yesterday, I had to go to Texarkana for new glasses and it rained on and off for most of the day.
The old hand is a bit sore but not bad, I will stretch my legs today, either outside or inside, preferably outside.
It's only been a couple of days since I rode but when your riding regularly a couple of days seems like a long time, will I remember how to ride, probably.

I occasionally ride on gravel or sandy roads so I enjoyed this page sent to me by a friend, thought you might enjoy.Dirt Roads

Well I didn't ride today but I sure wish I had, because if I had rode instead of installing an A/C maybe I wouldn't have done this (don't click thumbnail if your squeamish).

All in a days work, carpenters are used to this kind of thing, not to say I like it.

All sewn up and Ready to Ride, and I did finishing installing that A/C when I got home from the hospital.
I have stitched myself up before with a regular needle and dental floss, but this was a little much for that.

I'm not sure where this fifty seven degrees came from but I like it, it doesn't seem that long ago that it was about seventy five degrees in the morning.
Will ride a little later this morning due to freezing conditions, yep, 57 is freezing around here right now.

My ride today;

10 am, I'm off

Got in my last day of the month ride, a twenty four miler to Union Mtn and over it, gravel and all.
It is a favorite of mine, no traffic at all, and no dogs, why do I like this ride?

Got me in a ride today even tho I've still got the "Blahs".
No "Grannies Tonic" last night so that's not the problem, probably just life.
My conditioning felt good, just had blahs, ready for Blahs to be over so I can be my happy, dancing, obnoxious self.

MY ride today

I woke this morning once again to the "Blahs." I'm wondering if I lost count of my tonics last night, surely not.
As I drug about this morning, I decided I was going to quit riding, just lay around, then Teresa told me to get my ass out there on that bike, so I did.
I enjoyed my ride and am going to try to keep getting in some miles before my trip to Costa Rica on Sep 7th.
I may get in more hiking on my trip than cycling, but it'll be good to get out of the rut, out of my comfort zone.

An employment test question:

You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car? Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application. You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS....................

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer.
He simply answered: 'I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital.
I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.'

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations.

Never forget to 'Think Outside of the Box.'

HOWEVER...., The correct answer is to run the old lady over and put her out of her misery,
have sex with the perfect partner on the hood of the car,
then drive off with the old friend for a few beers.

God, I just love happy endings!
