Beautiful day out today, forty seven degrees and full Sun, a light wind.
I took the Mountain bike for a spin on the backroads, over the "Cordillera de Carterville", a nice little three part hill.
Was a beautiful day to be out and I believe we have a couple more on tap.
One of our dogs, Spunky has Heartworms, we had her checked out yesterday and take her in for treatment tomorrow morning.
The treatment is pretty involved, they give here Arsenic, keep her until noon Wednesday.
We bring her home and have to keep her inactive for a month, that means inside, this isn't going to be easy, but there's no other option, Spunky is part of the family.

Looks like I might have to ride inside today with all this snow!!!
Raining and cold here this morning, if I ride it'll be inside, surly I'd melt in the rain.
From: NickThe tall bike is scary high. I would be afraid to fall off and end my life. Not a good way to go. Not that there is a good way to, at all.
Just another beautiful day in Paradise.
Other than the twenty mph W wind, it was pretty nice out today, full Sun and 58 deg.
I took the Mtnbike on the backroads, trying to hide from my friend, the Wind.
Had a good ride yesterday, another spring like day, sixty eight deg and Sun and also some wind.
Looks like the rain will move in today and our weather will go downhill from there.
When I say downhill, not really that bad, mid 50's next week with sun, on and off, it could be a lot worse, I could be in Iowa, NH or CA.
It was beautiful out there today, 66 deg, full sun and low humidity.
The weather has definitely been crazy so far this January, down to 10 deg about a week ago and today 71 and humid. It wasn't a pleasant ride and I definitely didn't need a long sleeve shirt, hard to figure out what to wear this time of the year.
The roads were wet, light mist and high humidity not really rain, nasty was the word.
Yesterday was a beautiful day for riding, sixty degrees and full Sun.
I took my Centurion for a ride, I went to Linden, then to Almira, Red Hill and then back to Casa.
I rode my Centurion and really enjoyed it, my new Compact Crank is working out fine.
It's funny how some days are heaven and some days are hell, day before yesterday on my ride I felt like I had a target on my back, but yesterday nearly everyone was curtious and gave me room, it was nice.
Todays weather should be a repeat of yesterday except that it should be better, sixty seven degrees today, I will ride!
Of interest to me in cycling was Robbie McEwen getting third in the Criterium down under, and Lance actually joining the leaders for a bit on about lap 24, getting the feel of things I recon.
Greg Henderson from team "Sky" took the win.
Allright, maybe I can get a new car after all, "Tata Nano"
A pretty good day for riding, mostly cloudy and sixty degrees.
I took a ride on my Centurion to Linden and back, fifteen miles.
This was the first ride on my old favorite since I had the new Compact Crank put on her.
It was a hugh improvement with a 34 small ring on the front instead of a 39. Terry at the bike shop put me on a couple of nice tires too, Kenda Kriterium, seem to work fine.
Looks like rain tomorrow, we'll see, was going to go to Texarkana for a ride at nine am, if it rains maybe I can make the two pm ride on Sunday, yep, going to ride the Centurion.
Just can't give up the Steel.
Raining this morning and it looks like we'll be getting rain on and off all day, so looks like a ride inside.
Going to Texarkana to the Bike shop today to pick up one of my favorite old bikes, "Dave Scott Centurion Ironman", I had a Compact Crank put on her, looking forward to trying it out, especially on some of my hills.
The earthquake in Haiti, what a tragedy.
As one of the poorest Countries in the world, it just doesn't seem right.
These folks needed help before, I guess sometimes it takes a catastrophe to wake people up, now that over a hundred thousand people may have died, people want to help.
I can't help but think, they're just a little late.
It reminds me of the time when I experienced an earthquake, a mild one, but never the less, troubling and thought provoking.
I was travelling in Guatemala in the early 80's and at the time I was staying in Guatemala City at the "Pension Mesa".
Me and a friend decided to go to a small club for a couple of drinks. We got to visiting and making some friends and before we knew it the club was closing, but the owners locked up and we stayed in with them to visit some more.
We were sitting at a table and suddenly our glasses started to shake and then began to walk across the table.
At first it didn't register but then everyone seemed to realize at the same time what was happening, a "Terremoto", earthquake.
Fortunately it was a mild one and before we could even decide what to do it was over.
Looking back some time later I realized just how lucky we had been, the club we were in was right next door to one of the tallest buildings in the city, the "Prensa Libre", which, if it had been a large quake like Haiti, we wouldn't have had a chance.
Actually if you are in a large city there's not much you can do, they said not to go outside because of falling roof tiles and other debri so it's a crap shoot, just your time, luckily it wasn't my day.
So I'm thinking about the loss of life, but even more so about all the suffering ahead for all the injured, say a prayer for these folks and do what you can to help.
Beautiful day out there today, fifty degrees and full sun.
Teresa and I went to Texarkana last night to attend a Bike Club meeting at the "Fiesta" mexican restaurant.
This was the first time we attended and it was fun, and the food was good.
After getting comments on riding days and dates set for calendar we ate and then BSed for awhile.
I discovered two things that the other folks at the table didn't care for, really didn't care for, I really didn't care much one way or the other, so I didn't get upset.
The first item was, "Brett Favre", I happened to bring up his name when we got to discussing Football, bad move, he was highly disliked, "a traitor, he might as well be dead", I thought this was a bit extreme.
That brings me to the second thing that didn't go over to well, I said, "Even tho you may not like the guy you have to admit he's good, it's like, Micheal Jackson, even tho you don't like him, you'll have to admit he was talented," boy did that get them going.
One of the guys said, "I guess you can Moonwalk too", so naturally I got up from the table and did a little moonwalking.
This was definitely not a Micheal Jackson crowd, actually, I'm not a fan either, one of the Guys says, "Only in America can you be born a poor black boy and end up being a wealthy white woman," ugh.
I'm not going to get into the discussion we had about Dogs and guns, gets a little scary.
All in all a good time, I'm sure they'll be hoping I show up at their next meeting.
I managed to get in a few miles today, it was beautiful, but a bit windy, but I can't bitch, the wind was helping to warm things up.
Got my plumbing problems cleared up and we've got water again, running water in the house sure is nice, a damn good invention.
Got an email this morning from the "Arla Tex Cycling Assoc." and their having a meeting at 6:30pm today, wasn't sure about going until I read that it's going to be at the "Fiesta" mexican restaurant, we're going, can't miss an excuse to have Mexican food, not that we need an excuse.
It'll be fun seeing some of the riders and find out what they have on their plate in the near future.
It's already 46 deg at 11:30am, so I will ride in a bit, allright.

I have been riding inside since the weather has been so lousy, I was on the verge of quitting bike riding, then I got out for a ride yesterday.
It was 38 deg F, cool, but full sun made it a glorious day, I remembered what it's all about, I'm going to keep riding.
Our weather is not going downhill, it fell off a cliff
I think I'll ride indoors today, duh
Here's Bob Roll's latest Quote, he comes up with some great ones
"economic prosperity, spiritual well being, pick one"
There's a place I first heard of about 35 yrs ago,
Real de Catorcewhile taking a train to the Southern part of Mexico from Laredo, TX.
The train stopped late at night in the middle of nowhere and a Gringo I'd been visiting with got off, he was on his way to what he called "Catorce", looking for "Peyote".
I've travelled all over Mexico, and Central America but for some strange reason I've never been to "Real de Catorce", but this year I'm going to try and make it.
Check out the video below, this is how you enter "Real de Catorce", a tunnel cut thru the mountains.
Should be a real treat, if you'd like to come along, email me.
Might be some good Mountain Biking.
One of my favorite Pro Cyclists,
Chris Horner
Frost on the Pumpkin this morning, 18 deg, but we do have Sun, oh glorious Sun.
It's supposed to reach a balmy low 40's today, if it does I'll be out for a ride. Will be back later with daily report.

This year I've decided I need a Sponsor.
What happened to our wonderful weather, last year at this time we were at about 50 deg, now we're struggling to get to freezing, and I ain't happy, plus it's supposed to get worse, with a high in the 20's later in the week with a chance of snow, this is serious.
Here in Texas we're not set up for this kind of weather so we put on multiple layers of clothes and hope our pipes don't freeze, not to mention our pets, wouldn't want to be one of our dogs right now, but I did build them a shelter yesterday with a light bulb just in case we do get down around 10 deg.
I didn't ride yesterday, got some things done around the casa that needed doing, and it was nasty out.
At present, 10am, it's about 29 deg, if it doesn't get to freezing I'm riding indoors, but I will ride today, if the sun comes out I'll try it outside.
Got a good book going, "Ruby" by V.C. Andrews.
******
I saw this photo on twitter and thought I'd better get busy and build me some of these, they would sell like Hotcakes in Shreveport, LA.
Woke to the upper 20's this morning, the usual around here lately.
There's a bit of sun but I'm afraid we're going to lose it as the day goes on.
I may have to get out and do a bit of winterizing around the farm, looks like the cold is going to get serious about Thursday, around 10 degrees.
As I write this I'm thinking about my friends up north who try to ride in 10 degrees, I don't think so, but I admire their efforts.
Another beautiful day for Bike riding, I'm starting to get used to these 40 deg temps.
I took a short break at a Janice's house, Teresa was there, we got a kick out of seeing Janice's new Chihuahua, Mini.
I didn't stay long, the Grandmas were carring on like that puppy was a human infant, too much for me.
Nice way to start the New Year off with a good ride, it was beautiful out there.
"Happy New Year" everyone. May your year be filled with Good Health, Good Friends and Good Times.

My New Years day ride, always ride the first day of the year, cause, what you do on the first day of the year, you'll do all year, I want be cleaning house today!!
