June 11

I got out this evening for a sunset cruise on my recumbent, a whopping 2.5 miles, yes it still around 100 degrees at sunset so that meant a third shower and change of clothes, you gotta love it.

From:MrDaveyGieahh, there is Mr. Bill. Hi ya. I came across a guy, his dog, his bike and his canoe all traveling down a bike trail last year. Somewhere on my blog is a picture of it. He was going to put the canoe in at some point and his dog, him and his bike were going to travel downstream to the Mississippi river. There is a place that makes trailers to do such. Think I would enjoy that.

mrbill:
I'd have to figure out how to mount an Umbrella and Air Conditioner on that rig, then I'd be set. Thanks for stopping by Dave, I'll try to be more regular but no promises, I am in "Heat Hibernation"

I need to apologize to the two people who have been here looking for me, and have found me missing.
Everything is fine with me, there have been some changes in mrbills life and those have affected his page updates.
I guess the main thing is me going back to work part time, working most of the day in 100 deg temps makes it rather difficult to get on the bike when I get home in the evenings.
I have been riding on Saturday and Sunday mornings and really enjoying it, mostly my Cross bike but also some Mountain biking.
I've also been "hibernating," from the Heat, one of the toughest summers I remember and one I'll be happy to get behind me.

It's kind of scary but at times I feel I'm actually adapting to 106 degrees, sounds crazy, but that's the Human condition.
I hate to do it but I've been thinking of bringing my Stationary bike in from the shop and start riding it, not my favorite way to ride, but we do what we have to do.

I will be doing a ride on July 16th, the "Tour de Paris", in Paris, Texas, me and this ride go a long way back and it's always a good one.

I've only been out with the Kayak once and I really enjoyed it, this activity is also limited by time, heat and work, looking forward to more when this Extreme Heat breaks if ever.

Kayaking Part 1Kayaking Part 2

Enjoyed the "High School Mtns" this morning

mrbill actually bought this watermelon, in the background you can see my tomatoes, I've been giving them to everyone and I'm still getting overrun with tomatoes and pepers

I'm going to try to do better on my page updates, and would like to apologize again for the lack of and thanks to those of you who haven't gave up on me.
I do try to check up on my Online friends frequently, I really enjoy my Online friendships, you know who you are.

The less hypocritical you are, the more isolated you become.

From:TomMaybe a trailer for your bike to tow that new kayak to the water and back. That'd be a full body work out.

mrbill:
Brillant minds think alike, or something like that, I've thought about that but;;;;;

Got me in a 42 miler today, it was hot and humid, medium wind and no, I didn't walk up Heartbreak Hill, just cruised up it, well sort of, maybe I stood on the pedals for a minute.

Tomorrow I plan on getting in 35 miles, I'll be riding the Almira, High School loop, and this route has the infamous "Marietta Rollercoaster", always fun.

I've been thinking that I get a lot of leg workout but not enough upper body.
This afternoon I bought me a Kayak, "Pelican Pursuit" 10 footer, I'm thinking this will be good cross training, and if it's Hot, all I have to do is splash water on me, sounds good, the only water splashing on me lately has been sweat.
So after my ride tomorrow I'm planning on taking my Kayak for a spin, this should be interesting, I hope there's room for a little ice and some Rum and coke somewhere in that boat, it's going to be hot.

Looking forward to my ride in the morning, I did eat me some Salmon today so should be able to ride upsteam, check back to see how Kayaking went, if I make it.

I took a picture at the start of my ride today, but I was in it, singing to BB King, didn't want to subject you to it, that BB King can really make a Guitar talk, cry, sing, laugh, etc., Oh "Lucille"

I lied

Starting out, about a mile from the house, at least I'm not singing in this pic

From:MrDaveyGie"Hills" where would us bicyclers be with out them. Pedaling would be so boring. They wait for us, wait for us to fail, and our patient. May we all ride many more hills.

mrbill:
Yep Dave, I always tell folks, "you gotta learn to love those hills" and never stop on top, pedal thru, thanks for stopping by Dave, have a good one.

Did you sweat today?
I took me a 34 mile ride this morning and even tho I started at 7:26am it was warm and wet.

Todays ride was my "Antioch Loop", it includes the Antioch Alps and Heartbreak Hill plus some other interesting terrain.

Here's a photo of the "Alps"

And here's "Heartbreak Hill," in the distance
She always likes to see what you have left

I was cruising along feelin good and decided to take a video, I was feeling "Cocky", you may find this hard to believe but mrbill talks in this video, you've been forewarned

When I returned from my ride I had this email from my old riding buddy, Robert

Hey Bill,

So I got out early this morning and went for a ride.
I took my mountain bike and rode out to the lake.
I like to ride on the hike and bike trail and there are some dirt roads that run parallel to the dam I wanted to check out.
There is a gravel road that you have to go down from the top of the dam and sure enough I lost it and and went flying over the handle bar. I think I rolled with the fall pretty well but I'm waiting for expected soreness to kick in.
Just hope I don't get the neck pain like I did last time. Oh well, otherwise it was a nice ride.

mrbill:
All I can say is, "I wish I could've been there!"

Glad you didn't break anything.

And what all bikers want to know, "Is The Bike Alright?"

From:TomInteresting that you'd call heartbreak hill a she.

mrbill:
Tom, you don't miss a trick, there was actually a little thought put into that

Got me in a ride today and I really enjoyed it, a thirty eight mile loop which included the Marietta Rollercoaster, always fun.
I left the house at 7:06am and got back at 9:51, wasn't really riding hard, just steady and a total trip with a 14 mph average.
Getting out early also helped me beat the worst of the heat, was actually nice when I started, about 90 at the finish, we'll be over a hundred again today, it's kind of normal now, low 90's we'd probably need a light jacket.

Here's a pic of the Marietta Rollercoaster, from Almira to Marietta, not a flat spot one, got to love the hills, and we do.

Some really nice Flora welcomed me into Marietta

Robert, your not going to believe it, after 2 1/2 yrs I finally got the poster framed and hung, thanks again for the poster, quick work huh.

I'll be out there early in the morning getting in my miles and enjoying Gods Creation.

Hope everyone has a nice day on the bike tomorrow and thanks for stopping by.

In the reading department I just finished reading "A Widow for One Year" by John Irving, entertaining but not real thought provoking, I give it a 6.
