Damp

Got a late start on my ride today due to World Championship Road Race. I'm glad I watched because a favorite of mine, Valverde took the win and is now the World Champion for next year.
I knew Sagan wouldn't win since it was a climbers course but I really thought that Aliphillipe would win.

I had a good ride on my Carbon ride, was going for longer but due to late start and rain I only did 16 miles to town and back.

Congratulations Valverde

Jerry, Roger and myself went for a ride this morning. We had a good ride the conditions were perfect, cloudy, little wind and 70 deg.

Jerry showed up on his motor bike but he had pity on us and kept the pace down.

Tomorrow is the World Championship Road Race in Innsbruck. I'm picking Julian Alaphilippe for the new Road Race World Champion. Of course I'd like to see Peter Sagan take an Historic Fourth straight World Championship but the course is favorable to the climbers.
I'm still rooting for Sagan.

Finally feeling a bit like fall around here. I haven't ran the A/C in 3 days and it was 58 deg the other morning.

We have had a fair bit of rain and it was humid before the cool front and hence we have a lot of mushrooms and fungi.
I really like mushrooms, can't really explain it, just like em.

I'm posting a few pics I've taken in the past few day.

Hot and ready for it to end, two weeks and then cooler weather, bring on winter.

Today I rode to town on the Trucker and met up with Jerry for a ride.
We did an 18 mile loop and ended up at the Truck Stop.
We took a break, I stayed a little longer than I should have, it was heating up, a warm ride to the house.

When we turned off 125 onto a backroad I saw this hugh hole in this sign, Jerry decides to take a selfie with sign. A local guesses that someone probably did it with a 12 gauge slug, I agree.
Just another good use for guns.

We ended the ride at the Truck Stop, Jerry's home away from home.

Mushrooms and Wine

I had a fun day on the bike today thanks in part to my old buds, Jerry and Roger.
I met up with Roger in Red Hill, called Jerry but he had no motivation, I chewed on him a little bit and he said he would meet us at the gym in Atlanta and then ride back to Red Hill with us.

The humidity was high after that rain we had yesterday but Roger and I took it easy and had a nice ride to Atlanta.
Just after I entered Atlanta, about 4 blocks from the gym, Jerry passes me in his truck, I met up with him at the gym and Roger came in shortly after.

It wasn't getting any cooler so we didn't stay at the gym long, we headed back to Red Hill.

With the high humidity, rain yesterday and the heat, the mushrooms were out today, some really nice ones, as you can see in my photos.

About 2 or 3 miles from Red Hill we stop at the "O'Farrell Country Vineyards."
We really enjoyed ourselves, we got a tour of the facility and was shown how wine is made, pretty interesting, real nice setup.
We all had a "winearita" or "adult slushy," really good especially on a hot ride.
Jerry says he isn't interested in making wine, to much "Fiddle Factor."

After our nice visit at the Vineyards we reluctantly headed for Red Hill but we had one more hill to climb, Heartbreak Hill, I'm not real sure that it's a good idea to do a good hill right after a "winearita."

So I split from Jerry and Roger at Red Hill and rode on to the house, Roger and Jerry trucked it to Linden.

Big thanks to Roger and Jerry for joining me on the ride.

Feelin Good, it feels good to feel good, could be the Rum.

I've been getting in a few miles on the bike, mostly the Trucker, mainly ride Carbon when I'm with someone else, just in case they throw down a challenge.

Jerry hosted a cyclist from Denmark, Henrick, really nice and interesting guy. I was talking to him about Pro Cycling and I mentioned the Colombians and that Rigo, Rigoberto Uran, is mostly interested in the ladies and having a good time. He said, "yeah, those Colombians like to go home to Colombia and drink beer and eat tacos and then they come back to racing overweight and out of shape." I got a kick out of his comment, a lot of truth in it.

That's about it, here are a couple of pics.

Today has been a wrapping up the weekend kind of day.
I went for a ride this morning, met Jerry and we did 11 miles together, so by the time I got home I had in 27 miles, and was damp.
After getting a bite to eat I had my nap, got up did laundry, had something to eat.

On Saturday we had a fun group ride. My old school friend, Robert, came up from Waco and we were joined by Jerry and Roger, we all did the 28 mile ride from Red Hill to Marietta and back.
The weather was fine and we all had a good time, luckily I was feeling pretty good and had a good ride.
I've got to remember to call "Mimi's Cafe" in Marietta when going to Marietta to make sure their open, they were closed when we got there, but we had a nice break and hit the road.

After the ride, myself, Robert, Teresa, Jerry and Martha all got together at the Mexican restaurant in Linden for some tasty Mexican food.
All in all a great day.
