Sitting here this morning having my cup of coffee and checking out the Corona news. The news is not good on a couple of fronts, Country Singer Joe Diffie has died from the virus and John Prine a favorite of mine is in Critical Condition, I'm really pulling for John.

Yep this Virus is starting to hit close to home, what a crazy time we are living in. Before you could always say if it gets bad here I'll leave, the trouble with this virus is you can't run away the whole world is on lockdown, crazy.

Riding was a little lax this weekend, rain Saturday so I got in 10 miles inside and then I took a ride to town and back on Sunday, stopped at Teresa's for a cup of coffee.

In the reading department I'm currently reading "One More Day" by Kelly Simmons, it's a mystery and at about half way thru I haven't got a clue who's done the deed, a good read.

Everyone stay safe out there, it looks like this "Hoax Virus" may not be a Hoax after all.

My day started with me planting my little Blue Hubbard Squash which I had started inside. It needed planted so I planted it in a large pot outside on my upstairs porch.

When thru gardening I headed out on my bike to catch Jerry and Brent, didn't happen because Jerry got lost on the route but I did meet up with them at the Truck Stop.
So I got in 18 miles with some hills so a good warm ride, might as well get used to this heat.

Quinoa ingredients; Organic Quinoa Flakes, milled Flax seed, cinnamon, Stevia, strawberries, peaches and bananas, makes for one good healthy, tasty breakfast.

I managed to get out for a ride today, I got in 16 miles, rode to Linden and back. Brent Crossen who we rode with the other day gave me a good idea, a bandanna for all this pollen, I tried it today and it seemed to work pretty good. I'm sure everyone thought it was for the Corona Virus but in Linden the pollen is much worse at present.
It was warm again today, it's a bit early for these upper 80's and 90's could mean a rough summer, might as well get used to it.
Everyone seems to be having problems figuring out this Corona Virus, TV makes it seem like the end of the world but when I'm out and about you see less folks on foot but things don't seem to bad here at the moment. I went to the lumber yard yesterday to get a bag of potting soil, I stuck my head in the door and ask if there was a special protocol I needed to follow, "only protocol we got is we want your money," business as usual.

I sure am missing the gym and my socializing but I am emailing and texting a few people just to keep in touch.

Everyone keep your distance and try to maintain your sanity in the crazy times.

I met up with Jerry, Roger and Brent at the ezmart parking lot at 1 for a 32 mile ride. The ride to town was tough into a 12 mph headwind and it was rather warm.
We had a good ride and even stopped at the Truck Stop for coffee. We took a couple of the chairs from inside and sat out front in them, with the breeze I'm sure everything was fine.
It was kind of like today was a normal day, but precautions were taken.

Later update; Jerry, Roger and myself went for a ride today, 17 miles, it was cloudy, 62 deg a nice day for a ride. Really nice to be out of the house for a while. We're supposed to go again tomorrow, weather looks better than today.

**********

I thought I'd update my site during this crazy period of the Corona Virus.

This is of course something like we never seen before in our lifetime, as I write this the world is basically shut down.

I like to follow the journals of touring cyclists all over the world but as of now they've all shut down their tours and have headed home, some still stranded in foreign countries, like one couple I follow who are locked down in Malaga, Spain.

I am locked down myself here at the house with my 2 dogs, Bootsie and Baby. I did take a bike ride the other day, I rode to Linden and back. I stopped in downtown for a break and it was weird, everything shut down, the police drove by and I wondered if they'd stop and tell me to get off the roads, strange times. Thankfully I live in a rural area, my house sits on 11 acres, so as long as I'm home I feel pretty safe, and bike riding is safe as long as you don't come within 6 feet of anyone or go into any of the few businesses that are still open.

This Pandemic is going to change things, when it passes some things will not go back to normal and we will make permanent changes for the future, for example all businesses should have doors that open automatically so were not spreading germs by touching door handles.

People are also learning just how important their social contacts are, me included, I'm really missing my trips to the gym which was my main social outlet.

I think we know by now that this Corona Virus is not a Hoax like some ignorant people told us at a time when they should have been taking action, now were behind the curve.

Most of us will get thru this and come out the other side to a changed world, hopefully this has opened some eyes but I'm doubtful, after all mass killings of children doesn't open eyes so why should I expect a Pandemic to do so.

There's always a bright side to any situation, I feel really good about the lack of pollutants being pumped into our planet due to less automobiles on the road and less airplanes in the air, maybe we need to shut everything down a couple of times a year even in normal times, might be a game changer. We also are made to realize the importance of our relationships with friends and family which we sometimes take for granted.

Now that I've recorded my feelings this day about our current situation for posterity I think I'll go for a bike ride.

Everyone take care and Isolate yourselves, for you and others.
