Avery Island

22 September, 23

On September 22 Jerry, Roger and myself made a trip to southern Louisiana, Avery Island where they make Tabasco Sauce.
We arrived at Avery Island about 11 am and went to their restaurant for Lunch, I got baked fish, mashed potatoes and a salad, tasty. Next on the Agenda was to visit the Museum which we all found very interesting, it tells all about Tabasco Sauce from it's beginning to the present.
After the museum we toured the Barrel House, building where they make the sauce and the bottling plant, all very interesting.
One thing that really struck me about the place is the way all the grounds are perfectly manicured not a weed out of place.

After touring the main buildings we took the jungle drive, a drive around the island where you can see various critters, we didn't see many critters but it was a nice drive.

Everything on the trip went fine until the trip home when the traffic came to a standstill on 49, probably held up for about an hour but finally made it home, we found out the next day the hold up on 49 was caused by a cattle hauler, 18 wheeler, had caught fire.

Below are some photos from the trip be sure and click on pics for larger and more detailed photo.
