Wind, the story of the day.

As far as I know I'm the only one locally to brave the 20 to 25 mph winds we had yesterday and I did my best to hide from it and use it to my advantage.
On the way to town I took the backroads so the hills and trees would block the wind.

The winds were pretty much like this all day, flags straight out, and it made for a great ride home. The ride home may be the fastest I've ever made it back to the house, I was even in the big ring most of the way and I never use the big ring much anymore, Big Fun.

I got an earlier start than usual since I had to have Bootsie at the Vet by 8am.
After dropping Bootsie off I went home had breakfast, did some laundry and then I was ready to get in a ride before I had to pick up Bootsie at 3:30pm.

Bootsie girl in recovery, "They cut me Dad"

I got on the bike around 12:30 and rode to Linden on the backroad, once in Linden I called Roger to see if he was up for a ride.
I waited at Kims
for Roger then he rode the backroads with me on my way back to the house. We had a good uneventful ride, full Sun, 4mph SE wind and 54 deg for 18 miles.

When I'm thinking of a ride I like to know what the wind is doing, I found a new site for checking wind and I really like it, also gives weather.

Gym Day

Moving slow this morning, but made it to the gym, had a good workout and visit.
Today is a little cooler and a little windier than yesterday, but as long as we have full sun we're fine.
I didn't ride the bike today because I wanted to take Bootsie to the Linden Town Park for a walk since she won't be able to do much walking or running for several days after her surgery tomorrow. I drop Bootsie off at 8 am and will pick her up at about 4pm, gives me a chance to get in a ride.

When Bootsie and I got back from our walk I was out in the front yard and noticed the moon

It should really be something tomorrow so get your butt out of the recliner and go out and enjoy.

A beautiful day for riding, full Sun, light NE wind and 62 degs F.

I got ready to ride and as I started down my driveway I got a text from Jerry wanting to ride at 2:30, I got him to move it up to 2 and then I met up with him and Roger in town.
As I got to town I ran upon a wreck that just happened, I rode over and checked with these two ladies to make sure everyone was alright, about that time a guy comes walking up and he's the other person involved, as him and the ladies start to blame each other I figured it was time for me to leave.
I went around the corner and stopped at Kims, parked outside and went in to take a break and call Jerry to adjust time. I leave the store and when I get to my bike I see my taillight on the ground by my bike and then I look at my helmet, where I had the light mounted, and I saw that the mount was melted and when I picked up the taillight it was melted and hot. A guy in a truck told me he saw it smoking when they pulled up and he couldn't figure what it was.
So, I have now been a victim of a battery igniting and burning, glad this didn't happen when I was charging it at the house.

Naturally the first thing to come to mind was "Lawsuit," get some ketchup spread on the back of my neck get some pics and find a crooked lawyer and doctor, big bucks.

Me being an honest type I decided to cancel that idea, I think, but if it had fell on my neck there would have been a problem, close call.

We had a good ride, perfect conditions, good route and a nice visit at the Truck Stop after the ride.

A cloudy misty day, a good reading day.

The weather was a bit nasty for riding so I decided to take Bootsie to town for a walk, since she'll be out of action temporarily after she goes under the knife on Tuesday.
So in the early afternoon Bootsie and I headed to town and met up with the Granddaughters for a walk in the park, we also swung by the Dollar Store to pick up a pizza and some ice cream, growing kids are always hungry.
I did manage to get in 10 miles inside later in the day.

Went to the gym this morning, did my workout and left a bit early.
Today we lost the Sun as the clouds moved in and rainy weather is predicted for Saturday.
We need the rain and I wouldn't mind a day of reading, reading was what I did this afternoon, I'm really enjoying "The Feast of the Goat."

In the "Vuelta a San Juan" Argentinean champion Gonzalo Najar took the Queen stage and also the race lead.

Made it to Marietta today.

This morning I sent a text to Jerry and Roger asking if they wanted to ride to Marietta at 11 am. Roger text back that he would see me there, Jerry was non committal until I offered to buy him a slice of pie at Mimi's then he was in.
I rode to Red Hill and met up with Jerry and Roger and we got going at 11. The first 6 miles are on hwy 995, hilly, then we turn North on 1399 and it's hilly (Marietta Rollercoaster).
The ride to Marietta went real well, little breeze on our back.

Well you can't ride everyday, sometimes you've got to clean house.
I went to the gym today and then had to go by Wally World to get some groceries, then to the house.
I decided I needed to do a little house cleaning, hard to do when it's nice riding weather. I didn't do a thorough cleaning just enough to ease my conscience.
I also had to play with Bootsie, throw the rope, throw the ball, throw the stick and then rest, that dog can wear you down. Next Tuesday Bootsie will go under the knife, she's getting fixed, I can't imagine having six or eight puppies like her running around the place, a nightmare.

Another good day on the bike, nothing like some Sun to make for some good bike riding.
Jerry called me this morning before I had eaten breakfast to see if I wanted to ride at 10am. To make a long story short, we met at the Truck Stop at 10:30.
We headed out 1841 towards Bivins, then turned left on 43, a few hundred yards then turn onto 1423 and take that thru the Boonies back to Hwy 59 then return to Linden.
I had ridden this Backroad (I capitalized it because of a certain hill, with a hill like that it deserves a capital, last bit 14 per cent) about 20 yrs prior but didn't remember much about it.

Here's Roger topping the Big Hill, yep, Jerry's walking but Roger and I didn't say a thing.
I got to the top, it was tough, as I was climbing I knew I had to keep going because I saw Roger coming in my mirror, I couldn't walk or he would have gone on up for sure, I had to keep pedaling.
Roger told me that he wanted to walk too but he saw I was going to make it so he didn't have a choice, he had to keep pedaling.

I had a good day to day, went to the gym this morning, little exercise and a little socializing. A front came thru last night and cooled things down a bit and today we had winds from 20 to 25 mph.
After getting home from gym and getting a bite to eat I decided I'd ride an old mtn bike route that I haven't ridden in a couple of years. I got out the mtn bike I've been piecing together and took off.

It was a nasty day with light to heavy mist and a 10 to 15 mph S wind, but it was warm at 60 deg F so not a bad day on the bike.
I took off and got down to Hwy 8 and stopped to call Jerry to see if he might be up for the ride.

I guess it will warm up eventually, this morning was a tad better than yesterday but still below freezing, I'm definitely ready for some 32 + F weather.
I was wanting to take a bike ride but with snow still around and the temps at 40 F I decided to just be lazy, so I spent the day reading.
I am thankful I have the trail around my place it sure helps to be able to get out of the house and go for a walk in the woods with Bootsie, me walking, her running at full speed constantly.
It should be warming up tomorrow so hopefully all the snow will be gone by tomorrow.

Woke this morning to 7 degrees F, me the dog and the cat are inside, this is getting serious, and the ground is still covered in snow.
The crazy thing is by Saturday we're looking at temps in the upper 60's so I'll be riding in regular kit, crazy, if it doesn't rain.

I went to the gym had a nice visit, a few folks missing due to the weather. I got home and it was to cold and nasty to do much outside so I spent the rest of the day reading and playing on computer.

Today was what I call a wasted day, I guess you could call it a rest day. The morning started off cloudy and cold. I read and played on the internet for most of the morning, after lunch I took a nap. When I woke from my nap the sun was shining but it was to late to go for a ride so Bootsie and I went to town in the truck to visit Josie and Teresa and stop by the store for some ice cream.
When I got home I watched the Saints game, what a finish, poor Saints, it looked like one of their players was playing for the other team there at the finish, missed the receiver and took out his own man.

I'm about ready for some warmer weather, these mid 20's at night and 40's in the day are just a bit cool.

A couple of photos from my wasted day. These photos were taken in a small town in Oaxaca, Mexico, a favorite spot of mine.

Yesterday turned out to be a good day even tho it started out at 21 deg f or -6 deg C.
We did have full Sun and even when it's cold it doesn't seem so bad if we have Sun.
First off I went to the Gym, got in my workout and then headed home, slow social day at the gym.
Still in the upper 30's when I got home so I decided not to ride the roads, didn't want to go thru the dressing up routine.
I took Bootsie for a walk and then of course she wanted to play, puppies always want to play.
For some reason I thought about my Mtn bike, the one I'm putting together, got it out to take a look at it.
My Mtn bike only has one break and it's not that great but she's rollin good so I decided to ride it on the trail around my place.
This turned out to be a good deal, I had a good time, got in some good exercise and I managed to wear down Bootsie, not an easy task.
Bootsie learnt the word "Go," she had to run in front, of course, and when she slowed and my front tire bumped her butt I would hollar, "Go, Go" and she would take off. I started thinking maybe I could harness her to the bike and let her pull me along, I decided against this when she saw a squirrel and took off, that would be an exciting ride.

So I got in 2 miles of singletrack, enjoyed it but remembered why I don't do much single track when I cut it a little close on that tree and bumped my shoulder, damn, that's not fun.

So I managed to have a good time, got in some riding and wore the dog down to where she didn't bug the heck out of me all evening.

It was a bit on the cool side at 46 deg F and cloudy but zero wind, I was lucky with the right amount of clothing and everything was good.

What was also good was the Mexican Cornbread I picked up at Teresa's on the way home. I tasted it at Teresa's and it was tasty, real tasty, so I made good time getting home to where I could continue to devour more Cornbread.
